Google Search Console for Codex

Connect your own Google account and let Codex inspect official Search Console data through a public, read-only MCP service.

Read-onlyOfficial Google APIOAuth 2.0

What this service does

Choose a property

List every Search Console property your Google account can access, including URL-prefix and domain properties.

Analyze search performance

Review clicks, impressions, CTR, average position, queries, pages, countries, devices, and dates.

Inspect technical status

Read sitemap processing details and Google's indexed version of a URL without requesting indexing.

Skill and MCP have different jobs

Skill

Guides Codex on when and how to use the Search Console tools. A Skill alone does not connect to Google or fetch data.

MCP service

Provides the live gsc_* tools, handles Google authorization, calls Google's official API, and returns the requested data.

SETUP

Connect it in Codex

  1. Open Codex settingsGo to the MCP servers or connectors area and choose to add a remote server.
  2. Enter the server detailsUse the closest equivalent field names available in your Codex version.

  1. Save and connectChoose Connect or Log in. The service redirects directly to Google's authorization screen and requests only webmasters.readonly.
  2. Return to CodexAsk Codex to list your accessible sites. If the new tools are not visible in the current task, start a new task after connecting.

gsc_site_overview

Summarize a property's recent performance for an explicit date range.

gsc_query_search_analytics

gsc_list_sitemaps

Read submitted sitemap processing details and errors.

gsc_inspect_url

Inspect Google's indexed version of a URL; this is not a live URL test.

Try these prompts

Read-only by design

The connector cannot edit properties, submit or delete sitemaps, request indexing, transfer ownership, or access your Google password. Search Analytics may return top rows rather than every possible query row.

Troubleshooting

The authorization request expired
Return to Codex and start one fresh connection attempt. Use only the newest authorization page.
Authorization succeeded but no tools appear
Start a new Codex task so the connector tool list can refresh, then ask it to list your GSC properties.
A property is missing
Confirm that the Google account you authorized already has access to that property in Search Console.
